Area Agencies on Aging provide services established and funded through the federal Older Americans Act. Some services are designed for the care of frail or disabled elders. Others are intended to keep relatively healthy people strong and active.

As we age, new challenges appear. The time comes when we have to think about not driving, and we'll need a social network so we don't become isolated. We might begin to need some help with everyday activities like bathing, shopping, vacuuming, or cooking.

Senior Farm Market Fresh Benefit Delay

A message from DARS' Division for Aging Services:
As you may know, benefit cards for the Farm Market Fresh program have been delayed. This is not due to any issue with your local agency on aging, Southern Area Agency on Aging. Our (DARS) vendor, Healthy Together, experienced a mailing delay. The vendor confirmed the issue was resolved on August 1st, and physical cards should arrive at approved seniors’ homes between August 4-9. We understand the challenges this year’s program has caused and regret the stress on our communities and farmers. DARS is working hard to resolve issues as quickly as possible. We appreciate your continued patience!
